Keeping up with Hlatses

Mama Kele

Keep left, pass right.

The past 4 days have felt like a heatwave and prior to that we had cloudy cold and windy skies for about a week. Some have called it the hottest October in London yet and South Africa is seeing a Tornado a few years after it was predicted by a then kwaito artist, Mandoza. What do we make of all this? Global Warming? Personally I’m not looking forward to UK’s winter. Nobody has expressed anything to look forward to, not even about the amount of time husbands spend at home as opposed to Summer outdoors. Its a pity one can never really be prepared for extreme cold weather. No amount of layered clothes or body heat will make it anymore bearable. Lets not even mention the electricity bills. Rates are said to rise in the next month or so, at a time where there is the greatest need for that service…talk about opportunists. Anyway, with the weather and markets so unstable we cant blame Kanye for thinking he’s a designer. O tlhakatlhakane shem, he’s confused.. On the other hand we have Tom Ford, previously described as unquestionably talented, influential and charming. I’m not sure what his excuse is for the 2012 Spring Collection but I can say he may not be so influential at the moment. Is he somehow pressured by the recession to reduce costs and talent? I don’t get it. Or was he trying really hard to overcome the tough financial times by repeating some designs. I don’t know but whatever his reasons, hope his loyalties will remain so. Britain can be careless with their money but people shouldn’t do so with their loyalty….*cues Tornado by Mandoza as opposed to Hurricane by Grace Jones, Loyalty to Mzansi* Lets keep to our lanes people.
